Bucky is the protaganist and the character we play as in shipwrecked 64, he is also the mascot of broadside animation. In the 1997 version of shipwrecked, he gains the ability to break through the 4th wall and talk to the player once you reach layer 2.
Olive is another character made by broadside animation, and is also one of the three friends that we are tasked to save on nulla terra. She is voiced by olivia finch in-gane (the actual va is magicem). In the 1997 version of shipwrecked, if you have online play enabled and get a visit from Stumbler during Olive's game, you will get this message: "who was that rabbit? / Bucky who was that rabbit? / forget it. / get back in there. / let me leave."
Walter is another character that we help in shipwrecked, but he is also Bucky's adopted brother. In the game he wasn't actually involved in the ship crashing, he actually just got his own boat stuck in a dam. If you skip past most of Walter's dialogue, he will call bucky "as inconsiderate as I remember".
Giovanni is supposedly a famous chef who is tasked to cook for the wolves on nulla terra once captured, though he needs help from bucky as he cannot use the ovens with his wings. He is also extremely snobbish and rude to bucky, usually insulting him if Bucky fails his mission. Personally, I HATE Giovanni.
Stumbler is one of the few unique characters made by cogware games, not broadside animation. He is an artist who lost his arms due to an outcast wolf, who was later killed by chief wulf. Despite his lack of arms, he still thoroughly enjoys to draw, but needs help keeping his canvas upright. Unlike the previous characters, you do not need to play Stumbler's mission to leave the island. He also helps bucky in the 1997 version with puzzles and navigation. He is also one of the few characters without a starling counterpart!
Chief Wulf is the leader of Nulla terra and the wolves that reside on it, but he is also Stumbler's friend and also represents connor thomas. In layer 2, we find out that during his free time he enjoys playing piano, evident through him talking about being able to find sheet music online. Simmilar to Stumbler, he also doesn't have a starling counterpart and helps the player in later layers, however, he doesn't have any mascot costumes. (he also enjoys chocolate and takes Stumbler on trips).
Hornz is this weird skull creature that we see during Chief Wulf's mission, theres practically no other information about Hornz other than he's the only character that will jumpscare you in the 2023 version.
Like stumbler, you also don't have to complete J.D's mission to leave the island, unless you want to get the "true hero" ending. His mission consists of parkouring through the volcano in nulla terra to get to a big boat that will save all of the wolves and Bucky's friends from the erupting volcano. J.D is a VERY important character, but most of the important information refers to his starling counterpart.
